Back to School Tips

It’s just about the end of summer, which means it’s time for your little ones to get back to school! As well prepared as you think you are, there are always a few things that have passed you by. Fun-a-day.com created a list of Back to School Tips for Parents of Preschoolers, and below we have briefly highlighted some tips for you.

  • School routine -Summertime schedules are often different than school year schedules, and there’s nothing wrong with that!  Kids do well with routines, though, so establishing a school routine early is important! Going to bed and waking at a specific time each day will help get their little bodies used to school hours.
  • Appropriate gear – There are a ton of cute, adorable school supplies out there, but if they are useful, it won’t do much good. Make sure that your childs’ backpack is large enough to hold their lunchbox, water bottle, and/or school folder.
  • Prepare for back to school emotions – Separation anxiety can become an issue for some kids when they return to school, or are going for the first time. This feeling is mutual for the parent as well, and often times more difficult for the parent than it is for the child. Within minutes, most kids are occupied playing with others, exploring, and finding new things in their classroom to entertain themselves. Here at Creative Learning we like to calm any nerves that parents might have during Parent Orientation by explaining exactly how the day will play out for your child as well as create a visual daily schedule for the children, to help ease into a possible new routine. For the children, we encourage calm and caring classroom environments in order to help maintain a fun, nice, safe place for the kids to be when they are away from their parents. Together, these actions help to slightly alleviate separation anxiety for both the children and parents.
