Read Across America

Every year the National Education Association hosts Read across America Day on March 2nd to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday. Schools all across the United States participate in an effort to promote the importance of reading and the importance of providing accessible resources to young minds across the country. Creative Learning is proud to announce that we will once again be participating in Read Across America Day! If you’re interested in getting involved at home or are wondering how the NEA supports libraries across the country, we’ve got some information for you!

How Does the NEA Provide Support For Schools?

With the help of generous donations to the NEA Fund, the National Education Association has brought back their library grant program! This is a program that offers grants of $250 – $1,000 for schools that serve disadvantaged students. These grants support the school libraries in buying diverse books for their students.

The NEA also partners with many great organizations such as SaveSchoolLibrarians.org , to help generate the funding and awareness needed to keep librarians in schools. As well as, RIF, Reading Is Fundamental, to promote a generation of diverse readers and educated minds!

How Can I Get Involved At Home?

Post A #SHELFIE

This year for Read Across America Day, the NEA is encouraging educators and supporters to take a selfie with their favorite childhood book. Take a picture today with your little ones and your favorite book to read together. Post it on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtags #Shelfie and #ReadAcrossAmerica.

Read!!

One of the best ways to show support for Read Across America Day is to sit down with your little ones and read together! Whether it’s going to the library to check out a new book together or reading one of your all time favorite books again, the best way to participate is to just read!
