Relay for Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, celebrated by more that 5,200 communities and 20 countries around the world. “Each Relay For Life event is special to its community, but the movement’s true power lies in the combined commitment of thousands of participants, volunteers, and supporters to help the American Cancer Society save lives from cancer.” – Relay For Life
Each year Creative Learning takes part in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for life, the world’s largest movement to end cancer. This cause has an especially important place in our hearts as so many children, families, and staff members in our Creative Learning community have been touched by this life-changing disease.
Members of our staff will participate in the actual Relay later this June, however, we will be holding special Rely Recess days here at school for the children on June 15th and 16th. We are asking for your support in the weeks leading up to these special events, and we are confident that with your help we can make a real impact in the fight against cancer.
Beginning May 31st, each class will be displaying a flower in the hallway. The flowers will start out bare, and the money you donate will help to adorn them with brightly colored petals. You may give donations directly to your child’s teacher and for every dollar you donate your child can add one petal to his/her classroom flower.
We have set a school-wide goal of $2,000 for this year fundraiser, and at the culmination of our fundraising efforts, the children will celebrate with a “Relay Recess.” They will enjoy a fun-filled day on the playground participating in many special activities including: relay races, ball tosses. hula hoop games, and our own age-appropriate version of volleyball and soccer.
We are so excited about the next few week, and we thank all of our caring and dedicated Creative Learning families in advance for your cooperation and participation!
