If you’re looking for different ways to keep kids of all ages entertained this summer, the Linwood Library can help! This summer, the Linwood Library is offering plenty of fun activities for the entire family, including Storytime, Book Clubs, and their Summer Family Event Series. Weekly Events
Every Tuesday at 3:30 pm – Children 7+ can participate in Hour of Code and have an introduction to block coding with Scratch and Microbits.
Every Wednesday at 10:30 am – Enjoy a weekly Storytime with songs, stories, rhymes, and a craft! This month’s theme is Color Our World! Wednesday, July 2nd’s theme is Color Our World Orange!
Every Sunday at 1 pm – The library hosts a Sunday Matinee with popcorn and a family-friendly movie every week!
Monthly Events
Tuesday, July 1 at 4 pm – Grab a book and join local dog trainer Donna Downs and her furry friends–German shepherds Frieda, Fritz, and English chocolate lab Kody–in our children’s section for reading with Furry Buddies! Furry Buddies is held on the first Tuesday of each month.
Thursday, July 3 at 6 pm – Led by Alyssa Davis, the Linwood Library Sign Language Club is best suited for ages 4-12, but all are welcome. Join us each month to learn the basics of American Sign Language to help promote communication, accessibility, and inclusion.
Tuesday, July 8 at 4 pm – Join us once a month for our Book and Build! For kids ages 6-12, join us for a story and LEGO building!
Tuesday, July 15 at 3:30 pm – Join us for our Time Travelers Book Club! A book club for kids ages 9-11. Join us for a different genre each month!
Summer Family Events
Tuesday, July 1 at 6 pm – Robert Rogers Puppet Company
Little Leonardo and the Fantastic Flying Machine – He’s the most imaginative, curious, enthusiastic little boy, who wants to learn about the world around him, and most incredibly, the boy wants to learn how to fly. He’s little Leonardo da Vinci, who grew up to be one of the greatest artists and inventors of all time. This is his most colorful story.
Tuesday, July 8 at 6 pm – Agostino Art’s StoryFaces – Art and Stories
Artist Christopher Agostino paints the faces of audience volunteers to illustrate the stories as he tells them, captivating the audience with his uniquely animated tales to present a creative adventure in art through stories and painted faces designed to encourage and inspire young artists, with fantastic, colorful folktales like “The Rainbow Bat” and “The Power of the Jaguar”, original tales like “The Amazing Face Story” and “Picasso the Thief”, plus fun bits of tales from the lives of famous artists like Leonardo da Vinci, Matisse, and Monet.
Friday, July 11 at 4 pm – Zoophoria NJ Color Our World Wildlife Program
Join wildlife educator Samantha Slevens for a hands-on wildlife program with our most colorful animals, including 60 lb. tortoise Tripod and a baby crocodile!
Tuesday, July 15 at 6 pm – Wetlands Institute What Color Is Nature?
It’s more than just green trees, blue sky, and muddy browns! Nature is filled with every color, and it plays an important role in the lives of all animals. By observing and interacting with live animals, participants will explore how nature uses color. With animals like crabs, fish, sea stars, turtles, and more, see how animals use color to blend in…or stand out!
Tuesday, July 22 at 6 pm – Brian Richards Magic Color Your World With Books
Join comic magician Brian Richards for a fun show jam-packed with magic, comedy, puppets, juggling, story-telling, and tons of audience participation. Come see amazing tricks where art comes to life, crayons seem to have a mind of their own, and Elmer the colorful elephant learns that our differences make us unique.
Tuesday, July 29 at 6 pm – Science Heroes Adventure of the Missing Color
Join Science Heroes on our mission to turn science into an adventure! Through hands-on experiments and fun, interactive stories, we get kids excited about the science that’s all around us as we celebrate the scientists who color our world with art!
